INTERNATIONAL NEEDS:

Our partnership with International Needs in Colombia has many facets.  Taken from IN's website regarding Colombia:

"In recent years, Colombia has experienced political turmoil and unrest. Armed conflict in some areas of Colombia has contributed to the displacement of over 2.5 million people, half of which are children. International Needs focuses on the La Playa area of Barranquilla, where many displaced families have resettled. Child sponsorships in Colombia provide the opportunity for a child to get a Christian education at La Rosa de Saron school. When you sponsor a child in Colombia, you are investing in a child’s future and letting them know that you care. The sewing center is a part of the IN Colombia ministry that provides employment for women in the La Playa community. Women design and sew things like school uniforms, dresses, and every day clothes to be sold all around the country and internationally."

As political and environmental devestation continue to take their toll on Barranquilla, many residents have been forced into extreme poverty in the La Playa beach area.  We are excited about the future of our partnership in regard to the availability of reaching previously unreached people groups that live in the mountains surrounding Barranquilla.  Work is being done to bring the gospel to a group of people who have previously never heard the Good News.  The financial support given from ECC goes to help with specific needs (projects) and also to further the general ministry happening in Barranquilla.

The mission trips we take to Barranquilla center around the Rose of Sharon school founded by Martha & Jose Palacio and run by their family.  Trips include opportunities to participate with basic medical help, work in their sewing enterprise, construction, and evangelism.  Another key area of our partnership in Colombia is through child sponsorships.
